Madekwe comes from the mixed race family of South London in England. Her father is a Nigerian-Swiss, as is her mom who's English. She was raised in a council estate in the south of London. When she was fourteen, she was enrolled at The Brit School. It was the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art was where she received the BA in acting. She was a part of various stages during her high college days, such as the stage productions King Henry V and Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe began her career as an actress in the movie Storm Damage. Since then, she has made guest appearances in Teachers, Doctors, Casualty as well as Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's film debut was in Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), opposite Colin Farrell. After that her role was Elisha in the one-off BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN as well as appearing in the six episodes of Trexx as well as Flipside as Ollie. She was Bambi on The ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe also appeared on the comedy How to Lose Friends and alienate others (2008). The credits on stage for Madekwe are Little Sweet Thing and Flight Path.
Madekwe made her US debut on the Drama series The Beautiful Life, which only aired two episodes in the US on The CW before being cancelled. She was cast in February 2011, as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. Madekwe starred as a regular character on the drama series of Revenge on ABC during two seasons. The show was announced in May 2013 that she would leave the series after making one guest appearance on the first season of the third. From 2014 until 2016, she starred in Salem on the CW as Tituba. Madekwe and her partner of many years, Iddo Goldenberg, were married in June 2012. They both appeared on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. They also starred together in Salem.

Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with a huge family. She was raised by her parents Roy and Patty along with her older brothers, Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley's brothers, who are all athletic, played in the summer months and play hockey during winter. Ashley was never a walker, she was a dancer, and when she was 2 1/2 years old she started Baby Ballet -and she fell in love with. Ashley became passionate about dance after this. Ashley was a dancer who competed across all major categories until the time she graduated from high school. She competed in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe and Acrobatics. In addition, she won best soloist awards at all important dance competitions including International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among others.
